Trond Reinholdtsen, Simon Steen-Andersen Romantic irony.

Christoph Haffter
It is common to oppose contemporary music to Romanticism; the latter is associated to sentimentalism, the cult of genius and subjective rêveries that do no longer belong to our time. And yet, it is by making light of the art of the past that music today takes hold of the profoundly romantic figure that is irony. Through this figure of thought, Christoph Haffter links the work of Simon Steen-Andersen and Trond Reinholdtsen to the romantic thinking of Friedrich Schlegel.
