At the Heart of Contemporary Music Theatre
Roman Brotbeck, Angela Bürger, Peter Kraut
Contemporary music theatre has developed greatly since the 1960s. Pioneers like Karlheinz Stockhausen, Mauricio Kagel and Georges Aperghis introduced into music numerous parameters such as language, movement, corporality, etc. Theatre and music have benefited mutually from this development, so that today the link between music, performance, theatre, new media and the utilization of alternative performance spaces has become natural. The Bern University of the Arts offers a Master's course “Théâtre musical” that offers the opportunity to dive into this multidisciplinary field.
