How New Music makes its listeners solitary

New Music makes its listener just as solitary an individual, from whose perspective, due to its vocabulary, it itself has to speak. This is composer Felix Profos’ hypothesis, who in this contribution names essential aspects of the “New Music style”, in order to show how those aspects prevent an active participation from the part of the listeners – thus preventing also the possibility for New Music to build its own social relevance.
