Daniel Ott: A Portrait

From Hafenbecken to the Schafmatt

Thomas Meyer
During the Witten Days for new chamber music 2011 a new landscape composition by Daniel Ott will be created: querströmung – querformat (provisional title for the work in progress). The Swiss composer, born in 1960 and now living and teaching in Berlin, is a specialist for music theatre and performance projects. Thomas Meyer exposes in this text various stages of Ott’s creative production with a particular emphasis on the way with which Ott explores the sound potential of places which are not normally considered suited for concerts, and renders them musically productive.
